7. Grapefruit

Grapefruit is considered one of the prime foods to be eaten for weight lose for many years. Grapefruit contains 90 percent water that keeps you full. It is a low calorie food and free from cholesterol. An average size grapefruit has only 52 calories. It lowers insulin and increases the fat storage in our body.

It is better to add a grapefruit in your daily diet especially before a meal. It has beta carotene in it that fight against diseases. Grapefruit can be used in raw form or it can be mixed with other for making fruit salad, into a smoothie or even the part of salsa.

In weight loss program lettuce should be part of your diet. It is a low calorie food with a lot of nutrients. So take a lot of lettuce, be full and still not gain weight. You can use it in raw form as well as in salads, with fruits, meat, chicken, peanut butter, cottage cheese etc.

Recent years some researchers claim that there are not many nutrients in lettuce but it depends on what type of lettuce you are choosing. Romaine lettuce is a rich source of vitamin B, folic acid and manganese. Usually purple and dark green lettuce has highest level of nutrients.
